As a active member of the RFS we believe that Ensuring the safety of building occupants and minimizing potential property loss requires proactive public safety risk prevention strategies. Under the Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws effective since 1 January 2012, it is the responsibility of ‘persons conducting a business or undertaking’ (PCBU) to eliminate risks to health and safety as much as reasonably practicable. Emergency training is a crucial part of these safety strategies, providing building occupants with the knowledge to respond effectively during emergencies.

• Follow emergency response procedures, including lockdowns and evacuations. This module is often paired with an Emergency Evacuation Procedures (EEP) exercise for practical application.

3. Emergency Evacuation Procedures (EEP) Training: Regular practice of evacuation procedures is essential to avoid confusion and injury during emergencies. This training ensures that participants can:

• Recognize different types of emergencies.
• Understand the roles within the ECO and alarm signals.
• Follow clear evacuation procedures and respond appropriately to instructions.

4. Use of Portable Fire Fighting Equipment Training: This practical module equips participants with the knowledge and confidence to combat small fires safely. Participants will:

• Learn about fire behaviour and different fire types.
• Understand which firefighting equipment is suitable for different fire types.
• Safely control a small fire using CO2 extinguishers and recognize their limitations.
